Children’s Nautical Rug – Custom Hand-Tufted Carpet for Kids’ Rooms
Children’s nautical rug was designed based on three main client requirements:
- The rug must have a nautical theme, while a second rug for the other son would follow a road design.
- The rug should cover as much floor space as possible but have an irregular shape.
- The rug must include the child’s name, similar to another our personalized kid’s name rugs.
Measurements and Project Planning
After carefully measuring the room and furniture (usually done by our designer, who also develops the carpet design and prepares production drawings — or provided by the client, especially when working remotely), our designer began sketching.
Concept and Composition
The initial idea came quickly — a compass and a fragment of an old-style nautical map. However, the composition required fine-tuning: the client kept adjusting proportions and the position of design elements, and even small changes often lead to a complete redesign. Once all details were approved and the contract signed, we began production.
Production and Quality Control
Everything was going smoothly until the human factor intervened. Even yarn with the same chromotone color number, but from different batches, can have a slightly different shade. That’s why we carefully track not only the yarn’s color code but also the batch number. In this case, we had to remake about half a square meter of the rug, delaying the process by a couple of days. Fortunately, it wasn’t critical.
Our workshop corrects even the flaws a client might never notice — this is one of our core principles.
